↓    Opening Hours

Office hours are Monday to Friday from 9am - 5pm. The surgery closes for lunch from 1pm to 2pm. The surgery is closed Saturdays, Sundays & Bank Holidays.

↓    Consultations & Appointments

Consultation is by appointment. Appointments may be made in advance. We endeavour to facilitate urgent problems with same day appointment. Consultation duration is 15 minutes but we realise that this is not sufficient for some problems, so, if you feel you may need more time than this please let us know. If you are booking for a particular procedure please let reception staff know at booking so they may make your booking for an appropriate time and duration to suit you. Appointments can be made either in person, by phone at 093 70494 or by emailing us at info@tuamfamilypractice.ie.

↓    Blood Tests

Blood tests can be carried out Monday - Thursday, but must be taken prior to 10am on Fridays, due to the availability of our lab courier service. Certain bloods such as fasting cholesterol or INR tests for warfarin users are best taken before lunch. Please inquire with receptionist if you are uncertain about when you should attend for bloods.

↓    Housecalls

Housecalls may be made with prior arrangement or in emergency and only after consultation with the doctor on duty. The nature of consultation outcome is more satisfactory for the patient when the Doctor or Nurse has access to diagnostic and therapeutic equipment in the surgery and we would encourage all patients thusly to be seen, where possible, in the surgery itself.

↓    Prescriptions & Forms

Please allow 48 hours for ordering and procurement of prescriptions. Prescriptions must unless in most exceptional circumstances be collected by hand. A member of our administration staff will be available from 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm to facilitate the ordering and collection of such paperwork forms and prescriptions.

We accept payment by Cash, Debit Card and Credit Card.

↓    Out of Hours Medical Cover

This surgery engages WESTDOC for Out of Hours cover for urgent medical consultations or queries. This service is in place for our patients convenience and care after surgery hours, from 6pm to 9am of the following day. Phone: 1850 365000

↓    Repeat Prescriptions

Please allow 48 hours for repeat prescription requests. Repeat prescriptions can be ordered in any of the following ways:

  1. Email your repeat prescription to info@tuamfamilypractice.ie
  2. Phone us at 093 70494
  3. Hand in a prescription request in person at reception

↓    Email Policy

Please note that our email facility is strictly for appointment and repeat prescription requests. All medical issues are to be dealt with by way of consultation with the medical team.

↓    Test Results

In order to minimize interruptions during consultations we would request that you phone between 12.30 and 1pm Monday-Friday for any test results (093 70494). Please note that results of bloods taken in hospital go directly to the hospital doctor who ordered the test and not to the GP. Please contact your consultant’s secretary if looking for blood results performed in hospital.
